MARCH Into the Month with Less Stress |

Are you feeling stressed, overwhelmed, or anxious about politics, work, parenting, relationships, or the demands of daily life? You're not alone—many of us struggle to manage the pressures that come with everyday life. Good news though, we have tools and strategies that can help you regain control, reduce stress, and find more peace in your daily routine. Keep reading to discover simple yet effective ways to feel more calm, confident, and happier as you navigate life’s challenges. And join us for FREE this month at our Mindful Living event as we practice these and other helpful techniques together. We're often feeling stressed because we're stuck in our heads and completely oblivious to what's going on around us, much less what's going on within us. Science has proven that when you practice a body scan, you can get unstuck from the thoughts in your head, calm the nervous system, decrease stress and help heal the body. A body scan is a simple practice of bringing a deliberate, nonjudgmental, caring attention to each area of the body. And I also know from my own experience that this is a great tool to help us return to the present moment and find a calmer, less reactive state. And when we're calmer, it gives those around us permission to be calmer too. Our practice can have a ripple effect. Want to give it a try? Lie on a yoga mat or sit in a chair and start at your feet. Feel your feet from the inside out. Feel any sensations arising in the feet. Are you experiencing warmth, coolness, tingling, aliveness, pain, numbness? Be with and accept whatever sensations are arising for you, not trying to change or judge them. Allow them to be just as they are. Gently move your attention to your ankles and be with the sensations there. Now your calves. Continue to move through the whole body at a steady pace accepting whatever is arising. End with the top of your head. You can also start with your head and end with your feet. If you are experiencing numbness in any area of your body, try tensing your muscles in that area and then releasing, silently ask yourself, "what does this feel like from the inside out?" If you are experiencing severe physical or emotional pain in any area of the body, remember you are in control. You can choose what area of the body you want to focus on and for how long. Many of us have trauma stored in our body and it isn't our fault. It's ok to do this practice in a way that works best for you.
I leave you with wise advice from the beautiful words of Ajahn Mun, “In your investigation of the world, never allow the mind to desert the body. Examine its nature, see the elements that comprise it. When it's true nature is seen fully and lucidly by the heart, the wonders of the world will become clear.” Click the "Click Here to Register" button below and join us for this month's MINDFUL LIVING or EVERYDAY MINDFUL CLASS as we take time to pause and explore mindfulness of breath and body. Our MINDFUL LIVING event is FREE this month, so please book now before it fills up. |
