Rosie Nguyen is an Emmy award-winning journalist and the former race and culture reporter at ABC13 Houston (KTRK-TV). While pursuing her education at the University of Utah, she was crowned Miss United Nations USA in 2013. The award-winning journalist kicked off her journalism career at KEZI News in Eugene, Ore., where she worked as a weekend morning anchor/reporter. |

AAPI Heritage Month stands for Asian American & Pacific Islander Month, which celebrates anyone from an Asian-American background or culture. The month is designated and celebrated to honor and respect Asian Americans and Pacific Islanders who have contributed to our country. A couple historic events have happened in the month of May with the contributions of Asian immigrants which is the reason why we celebrate it in this month. One of those events is the thousands of Chinese immigrants' tireless labor to complete The Transcontinental Railroad.
