In Brief: Year in Review

2024 has been nothing short of extraordinary. From projects to processes, presentations, and publications, Portcullis Modern wraps up its second year in business with immense gratitude. The people and clients we are fortunate to work with and collaborate with make every effort rewarding.

Milestones and Achievements

This year, we earned certification as a diverse supplier and woman-owned business through WBE Canada, directly helping clients achieve their diversity goals. In the spring, I spoke at ASIS Toronto’s Best Practices Seminar about the value of professional certification and joined a panel at the WIS/CSO Centre Collaboration global event on the ethical use of AI in security.

September saw the third consecutive year presenting at GSX, the global security conference, on Navigating Organizational Change for Business Impact. These moments have been pivotal in sharing knowledge and advancing the industry.

Publications and Insights

The "NISTery" was solved in Explained: NIST SP800-82r3 and Physical Security, published in SJA. This article sparked a lively conversation with Alert Enterprise, culminating in a Bonus Episode of their podcast titled Shift Happens: The Era of Physical-Cyber Security Convergence.

Throughout the year, we also published several valuable resources, including Portcullis Modern’s Pre-Design and Security Change Management Planning Process. If you’d like a copy, feel free to contact me. I’ll be happy to share it with you.

Our Core Focus

At Portcullis Modern, change management is central to our work. We embed it into each project by assessing the current state, analyzing gaps, and creating strategic roadmaps. This intentional, data-driven, iterative process lays the foundation for effective transformation and improvement projects.

Driving Industry Improvements

Our unwavering commitment to serving the industry is why we are conducting the Canadian Security Services Survey. This initiative aims to support improvements in safety, training, and regulations for security guards and professionals.
