Historic Citizenship Progress for African Americans |

In a groundbreaking development, the government of Guinea-Bissau has taken historic steps toward granting citizenship to African Americans. After nearly three years of advocacy, the process is moving forward! To date, nearly a dozen applicants have received final approval from the cabinet of ministers, granting them access to official government identification cards, birth certificates, and passports. This monumental step signifies a profound reconnection to the homeland and paves the way for more members of the African Diaspora to establish legal and cultural ties to Guinea-Bissau. Bringing Light to Sonaco Village - Support our Solar Lights Project! |
The Fula Village of Sonaco faces daily challenges due to limited electricity, impacting safety, education, and community life after dark. To address this, the Roots in Guinea-Bissau Cultural & Development Initiative is launching a project to install 25 solar-powered lights by the end of 2025. With a goal of raising $2,500, we will cover the costs of purchasing, shipping, and installing the lights, as well as training residents for long-term maintenance. These lights will enhance security, support students needing extended study hours, and improve access to shared spaces at night—all while promoting sustainable energy solutions. Join us in making a lasting impact! Your support will help create a brighter, safer future for the people in the village of Sonaco. | | |
