Elemental couple finds relief and comfort after wildfire

There isn't any real story behind this. This painting depicts my fantasy for all the wildfires in the Western U.S. (and certainly everywhere): relief. Romantic that I am, I wanted to create the image of an elemental couple finding relief and comfort after a wildfire. Not unlike the rescue romance between Perseus and Andromeda in Ancient Greek mythology.

This water elemental comforting his earth element sweetheart can simply be read as general compassion, if not a wider commentary on what global warming and the climate crisis means for all of us. It's merely an art project that raises awareness of the crisis.

Notice that the Oak Tree is stained with soot from the wildfire, as is the redwood next to him, never mind that many California flora need a dose of intense heat to germinate their seeds. The natural world has its adaptations to such trials, but we must take climate action and at least try to avert the worst case scenario in whatever way may be applicable locally.

I want to see this kind of relief and comfort with so much trauma in the world. And the trauma of drought and all that that implies.
